“Trump has perfected it to an art with Twitter— he basically has millions of followers and he just tweets to them,” Auletta said. “They don’t have any press briefings anymore so our news comes from his short tweets and that’s not news. We don’t have the ability to question it.”
President Donald Trump just sent the stock market sliding these past two days with tweets threatening to increase tariffs on imported goods from China. The tweets came just days ahead of scheduled meetings in Washington between top negotiators for the U.S. and China. The outburst was the latest example of the president making major announcements on the social media platform.
