The whole reserve system was a simply a holding facility for Indigenous nations slated for obliteration that, to this day, destroys lives on a vast scale. The MMIWG horror is but one aspect of Canadian colonialism's genocide. The prison system and the abandonment of Indigenous people on the city streets across the country also take lives every day. There's no need to qualify anything. It always was and it still is a genocide.
