This is very bad. The Vatican:

= calls on doctors to "intervene" on intersex patients - the report says "even when parents do not agree", so we seem to be talking about newborns. This is simply a religious endorsement of genital mutilation.

Overall, this is an appalling statement in support of the use of violence to reinforce the gender binary. The Vatican has lined up with homophobic and transphobic far-right governments worldwide on the issue. People in these countries are resisting oppression, but this statement will make that harder.
