U.S. President Joe Biden affirmed the country's commitment to deterring North Korean aggression during a meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol at a NATO summit. This commitment includes the deployment of nuclear capabilities.

The leaders authorized a framework for an integrated extended deterrence system aimed at countering nuclear and military threats from North Korea. The guideline mandates deploying U.S. nuclear assets on and around the Korean Peninsula, a significant escalation in regional security measures.
In a joint statement, both presidents highlighted that any nuclear attack by North Korea would provoke a swift, overwhelming, and decisive response. This was followed by Yoon's doubling of South Korea's contribution to a NATO trust fund for Ukraine, signaling increased support without direct military aid
