Missile War Monitor: Ozon becomes the first Russian company to confirm a shutdown, as Russia starts hitting Kyiv's filling stations
Leading Russian e-commerce company Ozon has stopped accepting deliveries and customer orders across Saratov region after Ukrainian drones burned its fulfilment centre, the first time in this monitor's three months that a Russian operator has confirmed a strike stopped its business.
The admission matters because of how rare it is. Across 66 rows of Ukrainian strikes on Russian economic targets, covering refineries, grain terminals, fuel depots, ports and warehouses, not one Russian company had previously acknowledged an interruption. Governors confirm fires. Operators say nothing. Ozon, Russia's second largest online retailer, has broken that line. Its shares fell 5% on the Moscow Exchange on the news on September 10.
On the other side of the ledger Russia has opened a target set this monitor flagged as an unverified claim 24 hours ago and can now report as fact. "In Kyiv, hits were recorded on filling stations in the Dniprovskyi and Obolonskyi districts," the Kyiv City Military Administration said. Retail fuel distribution in the capital is now being struck.
Russia's defence ministry claims 777 Ukrainian drones were destroyed overnight, the highest single-night figure it has published in this war. Ukraine's air force counted 161 drones and one Banderol cruise missile coming the other way. Both are claims by the ministries that made them, and the targeting of the civilian economy is now running at a tempo neither side is trying to disguise.
Russian missiles and drones: what was fired
Ukraine's air force reported the following for the attack that began at 18:00 on September 10:
161 Shahed and Gerbera attack drones plus Parodiya decoys, about half of the Shaheds jet-powered
One S8000 Banderol drone-launched cruise missile, fired from Belgorod region
Launch points at Oryol, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, plus occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea
No ballistic missiles reported
The attack was still running when the air force published, with several drones in Ukrainian airspace, Ukrainska Pravda reported. Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups were all committed.
Russia's own account of the same night, published by the partisan channel Military Summary, lists only the Banderol and the 161 drones and describes the package as a strike on "military and infrastructure targets". It adds that Ukraine's claim of 138 intercepts "does not change the fact that facilities across multiple regions were hit". On the weapons count the two sides agree.
Interception: what got through
Ukraine's air force gave the following as of 08:00 on September 11:
138 of 161 drones destroyed or jammed, an 86% rate
The Banderol is not separately accounted for in the intercept total
Hits recorded at 19 locations, debris at three more
Eighty-six per cent is the fourth consecutive night at that rate. The nights of September 7 to 8, 8 to 9 and 9 to 10 all ran at about 86% against drones, at launch volumes of 166, 166 and 149. The defence is holding its proportion while the leakage moves around the map.
What that 14% bought Russia this time was 19 impact sites including two filling stations in the capital, a 30,000 sq m logistics terminal in Dnipro and warehouses at Irpin.
The ballistic line is now permanently missing. Ukraine's air force stopped publishing ballistic launch and interception figures on August 8, a change Yurii Ihnat confirmed on August 13. No ballistic missiles were reported this night, and there is no longer a published series against which to test that.
Strikes on filling stations: the claim is now confirmed
This monitor's edition of 10 September recorded a report from the partisan account Military Summary that Russia had begun striking fuel stations across Kyiv, and declined to put it in the ledger because no Ukrainian official and no operator had confirmed it.
The Kyiv City Military Administration has now confirmed it. Hits were recorded on filling stations in the Dniprovskyi and Obolonskyi districts of the capital, with emergency services dispatched and consequences being clarified, per BLYSKAVKA relaying the administration.
No brand has been named, no casualty figure has been published and neither Okko, WOG nor Socar Energy Ukraine has commented. What is established is the category: retail fuel distribution inside Kyiv is being hit, which is a different proposition from striking a depot or a refinery because forecourts sit inside residential districts and hold volatile stock at street level.
Strikes on warehouses and logistics
The logistics damage was the heaviest category of the night on the Ukrainian side:

Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, said three people were injured across the region. Private houses and a car were damaged in the Nikopol district, and infrastructure in the Pyatykhatska community of the Kamianske district was described as devastated.
The Omega terminal, the Irpin warehouses and the Obolon business centre all rest on geolocated partisan footage with no Ukrainian official confirmation and no named operator. The Hostomel secondary detonations suggest a munitions or equipment store rather than a commercial one, and it is not in the economic ledger.
Strikes on retail
Geran drones hit a shopping centre in Zaporizhzhia overnight, with coordinates published and a damage assessment still pending, per Military Summary. No operator has been named and the regional administration has not itemised it.
That is the third shopping centre in this ledger inside a week, after the Manufactura centre in Sumy, which suspended operations, and the Zaporizhzhia mall of September 6 to 7.
What Russia says it was aiming at: data centres and Odesa's port
Russia's defence ministry claims the overnight strikes hit data centres in Kyiv and in the Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi and Dnipropetrovsk regions, along with port infrastructure and vessels carrying military cargo in the Odesa region, per Meduza.
Data centres are a new category in this series. Russia has previously claimed drone factories, logistics hubs, fuel depots and substations; it has not before described computing infrastructure as a target set. No Ukrainian official has confirmed a strike on any data centre, no operator has been named and no outage has been reported.
The Odesa port claim is the more familiar one and is also unconfirmed. It follows the same ministry's claim of a dry cargo ship bound for Odesa on September 9.
Ozon: the first Russian operator to admit a stoppage
Ukrainian drones set fire to Ozon's fulfilment centre at Saratov in the early hours of September 11. The company's response is what makes it the lead.

Ozon's own words, carried by TASS, cover the strike and the evacuation: "Our logistics centre and delivery hub in Saratov came under a drone attack. We acted promptly to evacuate staff, and there were no injuries, according to preliminary information. A fire occurred, and emergency services are working at the scene." The suspension of orders and deliveries is reported by The Moscow Times and by Militarnyi rather than appearing in that statement.
Ozon shares fell 5% on the Moscow Exchange on the news, per The Moscow Times
More than two dozen warehouses belonging to Ozon and its larger rival Wildberries have been hit since the middle of summer, per the same report
That second number is the one this monitor has never had. It has recorded Russian warehouse strikes one at a time, at Yekaterinburg, Pavlovsky Posad, Leninskoye and Voronezh among others, without any total. Two dozen sites across the two dominant e-commerce groups in under three months is a campaign against a single sector, not a run of separate incidents.
Militarnyi carried the company's confirmation, with the OSINT projects Exilenova+ and ASTRA supplying imagery. The Kyiv Independent also reported the strike and said it could not independently verify the extent of the damage. Nasa's FIRMS fire monitoring service showed two active fires on the southern and western outskirts of Saratov, where the refinery and the warehouse respectively sit.
Set that against the Ukrainian side of the same week. Reeva, Bunge and Imperial Brands have all confirmed suspensions in Ukraine since September 10, and the National Bank of Ukraine has put 0.4 to 0.6 percentage points of its 2026 inflation forecast on warehouse destruction alone. Until this morning the Russian corporate side of the ledger was silent. One company has now said the same kind of thing, about the same kind of building.
Ozon has not said how long the suspension will last, has not given a damage figure and has not said whether stock was destroyed. It is a listed company.
Strikes on residential
A Russian strike damaged a nine-storey residential building in the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv and started a fire in it, injuring eight people, per the Kyiv City Military Administration carried by Meduza.
It is the same district as one of the two filling stations hit, which is the pattern the fuel retail strikes create: forecourts sit among housing, so a category that reads as economic on the ledger produces residential casualties on the ground.
Ukrainian drones on Russian refineries and fuel
The Saratov oil refinery, a Rosneft plant about 460 km east of the Ukrainian border, was struck in the same wave that hit the Ozon centre. It was also struck on September 8.
Its capacity is reported three different ways and this monitor has flagged the split before:
About 4.8mn tonnes a year, per the Kyiv Independent
About 5.8mn tonnes processed in 2024, or 2.2% of Russia's total refining volume, per Militarnyi, which puts one primary crude unit at about 20,000 tonnes a day
Up to 7mn tonnes a year, also described as about 2.2% of total capacity, per NOELREPORTS
The 2024 throughput figure with its year attached is the one used here. The plant produces petrol, diesel and fuel oil and supplies fuel and lubricants directly to the Russian armed forces, per NOELREPORTS. Rosneft has not commented, which is its consistent position across this entire ledger.
The wider picture is a refining sector running well below its own recent norm. Russian refinery throughput fell to about 3.8mn barrels per day in August, from around 5mn a year earlier, per the Kyiv Independent. Pass 1 of this edition recorded Rosneft's Ryazan plant fully suspended and about 60% of Surgutneftegas's KINEF at Kirishi out of service.
The chemical plant 1,600 km out
Ukrainian drones struck the Azot plant at Berezniki in Perm Krai on the morning of September 11, with a fire reported at the facility, per NOELREPORTS. The plant belongs to Uralchem and sits more than 1,600 km from the Ukrainian border.
What Azot makes is the reason it is a target:
Ammonium nitrate, ammonia water, urea and nitric acid
Russia's only production of sodium nitrate and crystalline sodium nitrite
Materials used in explosives manufacture
Shipments linked by investigative reporting and railway data to the Sverdlov explosives plant, the Biysk Oleum Plant and the Perm Gunpowder Plant, per NOELREPORTS
The Kyiv Post reported the strike. Russian authorities had not confirmed damage at the time of publication and Ukraine had not claimed it. Universities and colleges in Perm, including Perm State University and Perm Polytechnic University, cancelled classes and evacuated students.
The plant was hit once before, in October 2025, when regional officials acknowledged a brief halt in the technological cycle. That is the closest thing to a Russian admission of stoppage this ledger held before today.
Volgograd and the Flamingos
Ukraine put cruise missiles as well as drones into the overnight attack, and the missile half of it did not work well.
AMK Mapping's account, which is partisan but the only per-missile breakdown available:
About 12 FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles launched, against Samara and Volgograd oblasts
Eight to ten flew towards Samara in two groups, the first via Luhansk and Voronezh, the second via Bryansk and Tula
All eight in the first wave were shot down en route; about two entered Samara oblast and were also intercepted
About two to four flew at Volgograd city, with an unknown number intercepted and at least one impact and a fire
Volgograd governor Andrey Bocharov put it as falling debris rather than a direct hit. "Falling missile debris was reported at an industrial site in southern Volgograd," the regional government quoted him as saying, describing a "terrorist missile attack" on facilities in the region. Two men aged 55 and 42 were taken to hospital after a residential building was damaged. Ukrainian sources say the target was the Volgograd oil refinery; that has not been confirmed by either side and it is not in the ledger as a refinery strike.
If AMK Mapping's count is right, Ukraine spent about a dozen of its longest-range cruise missiles to achieve one confirmed industrial impact. That is a poor exchange rate and it is the first night in this series where a Flamingo salvo can be counted at all.
Russia's overnight claim: a record, and a caveat
Russia's defence ministry says air defences intercepted and destroyed 777 Ukrainian drones overnight. That is the highest single-night interception claim it has made, against 448 the night before and 596 on the night of September 8 to 9.
The attack covered about 15 regions plus Crimea
More than 90 drones and missiles downed over Rostov region, affecting Taganrog, Novoshakhtinsk and ten districts, with ten private homes and outbuildings damaged in the Millerovo district
26 drones intercepted over Tula region, where two people were killed and three injured, per governor Dmitry Milyaev
In Belgorod region a driver was killed and his passenger injured when a drone struck their vehicle near the border; acting governor Alexander Shuvayev reported four civilian deaths and 16 injuries over 24 hours
The ministry's figure is a claim, not a count, and the regional numbers from governors are not additive with it. What can be said is that the claimed total has risen by 74% in three nights, which is either a very large increase in Ukrainian launch volume or an inflation in the counting, and nothing published lets an outsider tell which.
Novorossiysk: the satellite picture
Satellite imagery has settled what happened at Novorossiysk on September 9. Ukraine destroyed one Russian military vessel and severely damaged two more, among them a Buyan-M corvette, per NOELREPORTS.
Ukraine's General Staff had confirmed strikes on the frigate Admiral Essen, the minesweeper Zheleznyakov and the large landing ship Pyotr Morgunov, plus fuel oil storage facilities in the city. The Buyan-M was claimed separately on Exilenova+ imagery and was not in the General Staff list. The satellite confirmation of one destroyed and two damaged does not map cleanly onto either list, and no source reconciles them.
The warships are military targets and are not in the economic ledger. The fuel oil storage is, and it sits alongside the fuel oil terminal that burned on September 9 and all three of the port's grain terminals, out since August.
Svalbard: the Reuters detail behind the attribution
Pass 1 of this edition recorded Norwegian defence minister Tore Sandvik attributing a Russian submarine cable-cutting rehearsal to Russia on the record. The underlying reporting has now been published and it is more substantial than the attribution alone.
The operation took place in Arctic waters near Svalbard this spring and was run by GUGI, Russia's undersea warfare directorate, using deep-sea submersibles
Russian submarines were training to deploy a weapon designed to disable undersea cables without leaving traces
A joint British, Norwegian and American operation tracked and confronted the Russian vessels at sea and prevented them completing the exercise
Two 1,400 km fibre-optic cables link Svalbard to mainland Norway, lying as deep as 2,700 metres
They carry satellite data from the SvalSat ground station, the world's largest and part of NASA's Near Space Network
Britain and Norway disclosed in April that they had uncovered a covert Russian operation in Arctic waters. The nature of the weapon, the location and the American involvement were not reported until now. Russia's defence ministry did not respond to a request for comment and the Kremlin consistently denies conducting sabotage in Nato countries.
Some American intelligence analysts are increasingly concerned that Russia may test Nato's Article 5, and that destroying subsea cables could be part of that. This was reported by Reuters, which is named here without a link under this publication's sourcing rules.
North Korea stops pretending
Kim Jong Un used the 78th anniversary of North Korea's founding on September 9 to thank commanders and soldiers "participating in overseas military operations", with state media KCNA describing "special gratitude and respect".
Neither Kim nor KCNA named Russia or Ukraine. The reference was understood to mean the estimated 14,000 to 15,000 North Korean troops sent to support Russian forces since late 2024, per Western and South Korean officials. South Korea's National Intelligence Service estimated in February that around 6,000 had been killed or wounded, and said in late August that Pyongyang was preparing for another possible deployment without indications it was imminent.
The Kyiv Post reported the remarks. The progression is the point: a deployment concealed by both governments in 2024, a memorial museum in Pyongyang in April 2026 attended by Russian defence minister Andrei Belousov, and now public thanks at a national celebration.
Weapons and technology
Ukraine's deputy defence minister Sergiy Boyev gave the Ukraine-Nato Interparliamentary Council a figure that explains a good deal about the weapons appearing in this monitor:
It takes Ukraine three to six months to move a new technology from a frontline need to serial production
In Nato countries the innovation cycle typically runs 10 to 15 years
More than 1,300 new Ukrainian weapons and equipment models were authorised for operational use in 2025 alone
Those are Ukrainian defence ministry figures and the Nato comparison is the ministry's own framing. No Nato body has published a matching cycle-time figure.
The macro bill on either side
Janis Kluge of the German Institute for International and Security Affairs has put numbers on Russian recruitment from regional budget data:
Russian recruitment ran close to 1,000 contracts a day in August
Regional budgets suggest about 234,000 men recruited so far this year
That is 10% below the same point last year
Sign-on bonuses continue to rise and coercive recruitment practices are spreading
A 10% shortfall against rising bonuses is the combination that matters: Russia is paying more per recruit and getting fewer of them. Kluge's figures are his analysis of published regional budget data, not a government release.

The pattern
Two silences broke in the same 24 hours, and they broke in opposite directions.
On the Russian side, Ozon said out loud what no Russian operator had said in three months and 66 ledger rows: a Ukrainian strike stopped its business, across a whole region, for an unstated period. Rosneft still says nothing about Saratov, Uralchem still says nothing about Berezniki, and Surgutneftegas said nothing about Kirishi. One consumer-facing listed company with customers waiting for parcels could not hold the line, and that is a different kind of pressure from a refinery fire nobody can see.
On the Ukrainian side, a category this monitor refused to record 24 hours ago is now confirmed by the Kyiv City Military Administration. Filling stations in two districts of the capital were hit. Russia has moved from warehouses and plants to the last link in the fuel chain, the one that sits on residential streets.
The arithmetic underneath was unchanged. Eighty-six per cent of drones downed for the fourth night running, at 161 launched against 149 and 166 on the previous two. What moved was not the volume of fire or the quality of the defence but the target list on both sides, and in both cases towards things ordinary people use: a parcel hub in Saratov, a petrol station in Obolon.
The open questions are the same ones as yesterday and they are all corporate. Whether Ozon restarts. Whether Rosneft ever confirms anything. Whether Reeva, Bunge and Imperial Brands put numbers on their suspensions. The ledger can record what burned; only the companies can say what it cost.
