Cod Damn It

Here is a clear cut case of ignoring science for the sake of Harprocrite politics; get votes. Gee just like they do with Kyoto.

NL fishermen get a year to test health of inshore cod stocks
"[This] is not based on science. If you're going to operate a test fishery, you're not going to find anything new in terms of the status of the stock. That's well understood," said Myers, who worked for years as a federal fisheries scientist in Newfoundland.

  1. The day the rest of Canada stops catching Cod either as a bycatch from Bottom dragging destructive practices or Nova Scotians stop their 11 month food fishery or the foreigners are stopped from raping and pillaging the nose tail and flemish cap as well as inside the 200 mile limit with Canadian permission will be the day I disagree with the people who live adjacent to the resource and who brought with them into this colonial/Federalism.

Discrimination of the highest order is what Canada is perpetuating against the people of NL.

Abuse and mismanagement of a common resource for the benefit of Ontario and trade concessions while the people of NL are losing their homes families are being torn apart and Dalton Mc Gimme is complaining please.

  2. Oh by the way your picture isn't even of a cod.

Goes to show how much you know about this issue.

  3. Gee thanks for all the links though you failied to link them in your post. As for photos of cod I didn't provide them. As for not understanding this issue I think I do see my articles on sealing.

  4. Your Welcome for the links even if you are misinformed on your position of the Food,Recreation,Tourism fishery in Newfoundland/LABRADOR as discriminatory as it is with respect to the rest of Canada and the foreign quotas.
I fail to see what the Seal Harvest has to do with this issue but you seem to think they are related?
If anything the First come first serve Quota system DFO has in place is in part responsible for any abuses that take place on the front because it discourages utilizing the whole seal and encourages harvesting as many as fast as possible before the harvest is closed. IMHO it should be a quota per sealer 14,000 with a quota of 325,000 this past year. Or a quota per boat maybe then we wouldn't get recurrances like happened in the gulf where they had a quota of 20,000 and took 90,000 now that is blatent abuse and should be punished. Those sealers in the gulf knew they wer over quota but wanted to kill as many seals as possible to protect their lobster and fish enterprises plus the seal pelts were getting 100$ a pelt.
It is the gult that uses the hakapik not the front the front is done primarily with gun and even thet is flawed because DFO still makes it illega to use shot gun bird shot to harvest because of an outdated law where by it is illegal to use bird shot because the shot was made from lead pellets which is a thing of the past all shot nowwa days is steel shot. The primary reason it was banned to begin with was to protect the food industry market for seal but that market has all but been erradicated because of the protest propaganda campaigns of the Animal Rights Activists. If you want to dispatch of a baseball sized target with a gun bird shot has to be the most efficient and humane way IMHO.

Here are some moer links for you concerning the seal harvest if your interested.
