Socialism is solidarty, mutual aid, hence love in action, that same Agape that Gnostic heretics applied humanistically during the Third Revolution commonly known as the Reformation.

The US should just back the hell off. They've brought enough misery to the region.
I think Chavez fits in well with Social Catholicism, as you imply. He is certainly no Castroist, that is just Gringo propaganda. His views are really Latin American left populism, the thing that has always threatened Gringo interests. Stalinism other than Castro's Cuba has always been a minor force in Latin America, in spite of the propaganda.
