Bad Headline

This is a great example of a bad headline courtesy of Canada's 'National Newspaper', the Globe and Mail.

Suspect charged in Christmas-card killing

Read literally, it means the Christmas Card died.

This sort of thing on the part of the mainstream media shouldn't be surprising. It is almost as if they enjoy bad news. Years ago if a traffic accident occured in Regina the television people would say something like "A ford ran into a chevy at Albert and llth Ave. Police are investigating" ... or something like that. Now they insist on showing as many ugly details as possible.
