DaysPal- The Protecting Journalists’’ Palestinian Center (PJPC) stated that the Israeli occupation forces are deliberately committing systematic war crimes against journalists in the Gaza Strip.

Such Israeli crimes have shattered all records for war-related journalist casualties in modern history, PJPC said.

PJPC reported in a statement on Tuesday that 66 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks so far in 2024, where hundreds of others have been injured and dozens arrested.

The statement highlighted that these crimes also include targeting journalists’ homes, resulting in the martyrdom of family members and relatives.

PJPC emphasized that these Israeli crimes are part of a systematic campaign aimed at silencing Palestinian media and preventing the world from uncovering the details of Israel’s war crimes.

The statement further noted that these violations constitute a blatant breach of international humanitarian law and human rights, safeguarding freedom of opinion and expression and guaranteeing journalists the right to work freely and safely.

The Israeli crimes also flagrantly contradict international humanitarian law and international human rights law, which guarantee freedom of opinion and expression and the right of journalists to perform their work.

PJPC recalls that targeting journalists is a serious violation of the four Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols, which protect civilians, including humanitarians and media workers, during armed conflicts.

The Palestinian Journalists Protection Center reiterated that the international community’s continued silence regarding these crimes encourages Israel to continue its violations and undermines confidence in the global system.
