Justice David Boddice said Peters was “enraged” at Cassar’s previous rape of her and sick threats, but that did not excuse her lack of respect for Cassar's “human dignity.” Peters was sentenced to nine years for manslaughter plus another 18 months for interfering with a corpse. The judge acknowledged that the humiliating rape followed by Cassar’s threats to harm her child had been a “significant provocation.” He said: “I accept the stabbing occurred in circumstances when you were enraged by what the deceased had done to you and was threatening to do to you again.”

Adam West is known by many for his portrayal of Batman in the Batman 1960's television series, but in recent years he's also become synonymous with Family Guy, and the show recently gave him a humorous tribute. West was featured several times on Family Guy as the city's Mayor, and every time he showed up hilarity followed. It's fitting then that the show recently gave him a comedic tribute, especially considering it is Peter who decides to do the video.

The family is looking for a way to honor Mayor West, and Brian suggests they rename James Woods High to Adam West High School, and everyone gets on board quickly, especially after listing all the reasons why James Woods is undeserving. While Brian goes to take care of it Peter says he's going to make a video in honor of Mayor West, though being Peter, he somehow messes it up

 

Replanting oil palm may be driving a second wave of biodiversity loss

The environmental impact of palm oil production has been well publicised. Found in everything from food to cosmetics, the deforestation, ecosystem decline and biodiversity loss associated with its use is a serious cause for concern.

What many people may not know, however, is that oil palm trees – the fruit of which is used to create palm oil – have a limited commercial lifespan of 25 years. Once this period has ended, the plantation is cut down and replanted, as older trees start to become less productive and are difficult to harvest. Our research has now found that this replanting might be causing a second wave of biodiversity loss, further damaging the environment where these plantations have been created.

As we celebrate our moms and mommies this Mother’s Day, let us not forget that for some, motherhood is not an enjoyed privilege. For many Black, Indigenous and racialized women in Turtle Island (North America) and globally — motherhood is a fight for life.

The struggle for our maternal health and motherhood includes daily resistance against anti-Black racism, anti-indigeneity, sexism, classism and other forms of intersectional violence.

The health of Black pregnant women and mothers is a key issue being debated in the United States presidential 2020 campaigns especially by Sen. Kamala Harris and Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Recently, Harris introduced a resolution to raise awareness of the disproportionately high rates of pregnancy-related deaths among Black women.

Professional tennis player Serena Williams’ recent maternal health crisisdemonstrated that Black women’s reproductive health can be jeopardized, suspect, dismissed and at risk of demise even for the very talented, wealthy and well-known.
