South Park creators troll Donald Trump by changing name of show to 'South America'

In response to Apple and Google capitulating to Donald Trump’s requests to change Lake Ontario to ‘Lake America’ and Trump's AI-generated attempt to rebrand New Mexico to 'New America', Emmy-winning satirical TV show South Park is changing its name to 'South America'.
Donald Trump has been busy lately, mostly focusing his energy on renaming things – specifically geographical locations.
He has signed an executive order to change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America, following previous one changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Over the weekend, he also suggested renaming the state of New Mexico as New America, and in a recent AI slop posting rampage, claimed that the Moon was American. Yes, seriously.
In light of his attempts to rename a gulf, a lake, a state and maybe soon a celestial body after "America", one television show has made things simpler for Trump by instigating a name change for him...
Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park, have mocked Trump by announcing that their show will be rebranded. From now on, it's not South Park - it's South America, with the change happening just in time for the long-running show's new season, which premieres next week.
The popular satirical cartoon has never shied away from mocking Trump and his antics, but this is a bold new move.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone said in a statement: “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount - a Skydance Capitulation.”
Indeed, both Apple and Google have accepted the changes and kowtowed to Trump by reflecting the rebrandings on their maps – something which critics have labelled "cowardly" and "weak".
Parker and Stone have repeatedly satirized and ridiculed Trump and his administration, depicting Trump as having a relationship with Satan, showing an animated Trumpwith tiny genitalia, and portraying former homeland security secretary Kristi Noem as a Botoxed puppy killer.
On Sunday, South Park won its fifth Emmy for Best Animated Show.
Parker and Stone could help but use the win to take a dig at Trump, posting an image on Instagram that showed Trump clutching the Emmy award. With his underwear around his ankles.
“You finally got your Emmy,” read a message at the top of the image.
This must have stung for Trump, who has complained repeatedly about the TV awards in the past due to him never winning an award for The Apprentice - the competition series he hosted from 2004 to 2015.
“The Emmys were horrendous…the absolute worst show,” Trump wrote on X in 2012, adding in another post: “The Emmys are all politics, that’s why, despite nominations, The Apprentice never won - even though it should have many times over.”
The 29th season of the newly rebranded South America will premiere on 16 September and stream globally on Paramount+.
South Park Skewers Trump, Big Tech Enablers With Name Change to ‘South America’
The creators of the long-running animated show quipped that the move was “inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google,” which complied with the president’s renaming requests.

COMMON DREAMS
For 28 seasons, viewers of one of history’s most iconic animated television shows were greeted with the twangy, dissonant strains of a Primus-penned theme song with lyrics beginning, “Going down to South Park, gonna have myself a time.” But that might be about to change.
That’s because “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker announced Tuesday that, for the Comedy Central series’ 29th season, the show will be renamed “South America” in a dig at US President Donald Trump’s unauthorized rechristening spree—in which the Gulf of Mexico is now the Gulf of America and Lake Ontario is Lake America—as well as the complicity of tech titans like Google and Apple that comply with the changes.
“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” Parker and Stone said in a statement. “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount—a Skydance Capitulation.”
In addition to renaming the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, Trump has floated changing the name of New Mexico to New America, a curious proposal given that both old and New Mexico—as well as everywhere from Greenland to Tierra del Fuego—are part of the Americas. He has also proposed rechristening the Strait of Hormuz the Trump Strait, even as Iran continues to control the vital waterway amid an increasingly protracted US-Israeli war of choice.
Apple and Google have adopted Trump’s preferred geographic terminology on their mapping platforms, giving Parker and Stone an irresistible opportunity to lampoon both the president and the companies’ obsequiousness.
It’s far from the first time that “South Park” has turned Trump into a punch line. Recent episodes have reportedly incensed the president and some of his senior officials, including the Emmy-winning “Sermon on the Mount,” in which a comically under-endowed Trump has a romantic affair with Satan.
Last year, “South Park” went after both Trump and its own corporate parent after Paramount agreed to a $1.5 billion streaming deal with Parker and Stone. The season premiere depicted Trump suing South Park residents over protests, while the episode also mocked media organizations and corporations cowering in fear of presidential retaliation.
Paramount Skydance—whose CEO David Ellison is a Trump ally—could become an even larger media conglomerate if its Federal Communications Commission-approved $111 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery moves forward. A trial is scheduled for March.
