Commenting on the new term, the new president of the NDP, Marit Stiles, said, "I will be a prime minister who is not afraid to make difficult decisions to do the right thing so that you can get the home you deserve, health care you can count on and an income to live on."
Stiles stated that as a unionized worker, he stands by the workers who struggle for fair wages, better social rights and safer working conditions, and said, "We all move forward when workers earn what they deserve." Growing up on a small family farm taught her a lot about hard work and responsibility, Stiles said, emphasizing that as a mother, she saw the challenges faced by working-class and middle-class families up close, fighting with the community for better childcare and stronger schools.
Stiles, who exchanged information with the directors of the Canadian Democratic Kurdish Community Center on the Kurds and the developments in Kurdistan for a while, said, "We would be happy to get to know the Kurds and Kurdistan."
Stating that he can participate in the program on Canadian Kurdish Radio, which was established within the association, as soon as possible, Stiles said, "We would like to get to know the Kurds and communicate with them. When we are invited to the program, we will gladly participate in it, we will be happy about it."
In the early elections to be held on February 27 in the Canadian province of Ontario, academic and Kurdish activist Elif Genç was a parliamentary candidate from the New Democratic Party (NDP).
Speaking at the introductory program, Ontario State Parliament Member Tom Rakocevic said that they are working to improve public services, provide fairness in vehicle insurance and make life more affordable for families. Rakocevic said, "We plan to represent the region in many ways. I was appointed as a government and consumer services critic of the NDP. We have also been a constant advocate for reform of the auto insurance industry. Especially in this society, we are faced with postal code discrimination."
Matías Dudobitis, who is Latino and ran for North York in the previous federal elections, stated that they will fight for affordable housing, higher pensions for the elderly, reduced grocery prices and reliable public health care, and said, "Together we can do better."
The meeting program ended after the introduction of the people who took part in the party activities in Toronto.
