One Down Thousands to Go

Al-Qaeda in Iraq leader 'killed'

Maybe they did maybe they didn't get him .

US Military `Does Not Believe' Al-Masri Killed in Iraq Raid

But like like the death of al- Zarqawi this too is of little consequence.

The White House's War on Terror reminds me of the comic book Sg. Nick Fury of SHIELD and his arch- nemisis the original comic book terrorist organization HYDRA

(which had a pop-culture iconic influence on the SLA)

HYDRA's slogan was:

"Hail Hydra! Immortal Hydra! We shall never be destroyed."Cut off a limb and two more shall take its place."

In fact when Hercules attempted to kill the Hydra it was not limbs but two heads that appeared after he sliced off one.

A lesson the American Empire has failed to lean as it continues it mythic war on the hydra of international terrorism.

Do you think Rumsfeld sees Sgt. Fury when he looks in the mirror?

Oaxaca-Mexican Revolution Continues

As I wrote here Mexico is currently in a pre-revolutionary political condition of dual power. Little reported in the MSM is the current crisis in Oaxaca province, where Vincente Fox has declared he intends to use military force to put down the popular uprising. Crisis Escalates as Marines Land in Oaxaca Guess he never watched Battleship Potemkin.

P3 Scandal Down Under

In a scenario that sounds like something one expects from the Alberta Government or their clones in Ottawa, Australians in Victoria have found out P3's are public funds paying for private profit.

And key to the scandal is the fact that P3's are neither accountable nor transparent. Gee just like here.

And the government has a problem underestimating its surpluses. Gee just like here.

Secret deals with private sector under fire

■ Melbourne's formula one Grand Prix posted a record loss this year, leaving state taxpayers with a $21 million bill.

■ Departing Auditor-General Wayne Cameron put himself at odds with Mr Brumby by insisting the Government's budget surplus was more than $3 billion above that reported this week.

■ An independent consultants' report said the EastLink tollway would boost Victoria's economy by $15 billion and provide thousands of jobs.

EastLink is among 16 public-private partnerships entered into by the Bracks Government since its election in 1999. Others include Southern Cross Station and the Melbourne Convention Centre redevelopment. But the process of attracting private investment to help pay for public infrastructure has prompted concerns.

The public accounts committee's final report, tabled in Parliament yesterday, found the Government's reliance on "commercial in confidence" to limit access to important information about PPPs had "diminished the accountability of government to the Parliament for substantial state expenditure".

Armes sans frontières

Legal Loopholes Allow Arms Traders to Dodge Embargoes

Including Canadian arms dealers. Unlike our troop commitments our arms are ending up in the Sudan to be used for genocide. Gee just like our Oil companies.

“Arms without Borders” reveals that Canadian, US and EU companies are among those able to take advantage of inconsistencies in national regulations by selling weapons components and subcontracting arms manufacturing overseas. The report details how weapons, including attack helicopters and combat trucks, are being assembled from foreign components and manufactured under license in such countries as China, Egypt, India, Israel and Turkey.

The report shows how these and other conventional weapons have ended up in destinations such as Colombia, Sudan and Uzbekistan where they have reportedly been used for the killing and displacement of civilians, highlighting the urgent need for global rules to regulate an increasingly globalized industry.

Being Right For The Wrong Reasons

McGuinty and Hargrove oppose Ottawa's Green Plan

They are declarining it an attack on provincial autonomy, that holy grail of the Harpocrites. Of course like Rumsfelds attack on Old Europe, the Conservatives are attacking an Old Ontario industry while ignoring booming Alberta's Green House gases. What is good for the Alberta gander gets Ontario the goose.

However that being said, both McGuinty and Hargrove are guilty of old industrial thinking, as I have said here. They could have adopted the NDP Green Auto plan for subsidizing the auto sector, but instead they just handed out no strings attached corporate welfare. So much for Hargroves strategic politics.

Now they are being forced to do the right thing for the wrong reasons. That is the Conservatives Smog Elimination Plan is not a Green Plan. And while they regulate one industrial sector the Harpocrites fail to regulate Alberta's energy sector.

Ted Morton Goes Federal

Another made in Alberta policy,is now being promoted by the New Government in Ottawa. In this case a bill originally put to the Alberta Legislature by our very own ex-pat American Republican Ted Morton who is running for Ralphs job.

Now his homophobic legislation has become policy for the Harpocrites.....
Tories plan to protect same-sex opponents

Morton not satisfied with being the right wing opportunist in the small pond of Alberta politics is lobbying for this legislation across Canada. Morton, religious groups unite to fight same-sex marriage

Morton had a hand in the recent funding cuts to the Court Challenge program as well. He has been and remains Harpers emenece de gris.

Even if he doesn't get Ralph's job, Morton is a clear and present danger to civil liberties and libertarian ideals in Canada.

He was after all a Senator in waiting. His vision has always been focused on using Alberta as the base for a conservative assaut on Canadian liberal social democratic values. His current leadership campaign in Alberta is getting funding and support from Tory insiders across Canada, as part of the movement to reshape Canadian politics to look more like Amerika.

As I have said before wake up Canada, Ottawa has moved to Alberta.

The Butterfly Effect

This is an interesting example of the Butterfly Effect of Chaos theory.

In June 1912, Novarupta—one of a chain of volcanoes on the Alaska Peninsula—erupted in what turned out to be the largest blast of the twentieth century.

It was so powerful that it drained magma from under another volcano, Mount Katmai, six miles east, causing the summit of Katmai to collapse to form a caldera half a mile deep. Novarupta also expelled three cubic miles of magma and ash into the air, which fell to cover an area of 3,000 square miles more than a foot deep.

But the NASA GISS climate model showed that aerosols from an arctic eruption such as Novarupta tend to stay north of 30ºN—that is, no further south than the continental United States or Europe. Indeed, they would mix with the rest of Earth's atmosphere only very slowly.

This bottling up of Novarupta's aerosols in the north would make itself felt, strangely enough, in India. According to the computer model, the Novarupta blast would have weakened India's summer monsoon, producing "an abnormally warm and dry summer over northern India," says Robock.

Why India? Cooling of the northern hemisphere by Novarupta would set in motion a chain of events involving land and sea surface temperatures, the flow of air over the Himalayan mountains and, finally, clouds and rain over India. It's devilishly complex, which is why supercomputers are needed to do the calculations.

To check the results, Robock and colleagues are examining weather and river flow data from Asia, India, and Africa in 1913, the year after Novarupta. They are also investigating the consequences of other high-latitude eruptions in the last few centuries.

And if the Novarupta volcano affected India what did the Tunguska explosion in Russia in 1908 affect?

On June 30, 1908 a mysterious explosion occurs near Tunguska in Siberia, flattening a huge region and knocking down millions of trees. No meteorite remains are found in the area and the cause is never determined. Later speculation about possible causes ranges from an impact with a comet to an impact with a small black hole, although the most common explanation is a bolide (any sort of space object causing a fireball) that explodes high in the atmosphere.

But what if it wasn't a meteorite or space object but actually a terrestrial phenomena? Tunguska event of 1908 had to be of geophysical origin!

Still Waiting

I challenged the politically bankrupt moralists who are blogbursting about abortion at The Canadian Blog Exchange. And I am still waiting for an answer to my questions. See my article; Pro Life?

Of course they don't want to debate they just want to repeat over and over again that abortion is murder. Well folks it ain't. It's birth control. And until we have open public sex education and access to all forms of birth control, for both men and women, including the morning after pill, we will continue to have abortion.

These moralist cretins who oppose abortion, oppose birth control and public sex education. And of course they oppose a womens right to choose which they define correctly as feminism, which they rabidly hate.

For all their moral indignation over abortion they are guilty of a far worse crime; their ideology is the very reason women are forced to commit infanticide.

Weapons of Mass Deception

I came across this interesting item at the Literature of Intelligence A Bibilography. Bill Clinton could have used WMD as the excuse to go to war against Serbia, but decided against it unlike George W. Of course the evidence of a nuclear threat from Serbia had as much credibility as that of WMD in Iraq. Which is zero. What is interesting is that the CIA was already cooking up WMD threats back in 1999 to justify military operations by the U.S.

Gertz, Bill. "Yugoslavia Has Nuke Material: Agencies." Washington Times National Weekly Edition, 19-25 Apr. 1999, 1, 22.

"U.S. intelligence agencies warned NATO military commanders two weeks ago that Yugoslavia could resort to nuclear-laced weapons in the Balkans conflict.... Nuclear material for a radiological weapon ... is being stored at the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences, located about six miles southeast of ... Belgrade."

Had George W. only promoted his war in Iraq as a humanitarian war like Clinton did, then he wouldn't be in trouble with the Democrats, who approve of humanitarian wars. Just like Iggy.

Pakistan Real Home of the Taliban

Gee I am not even a military intelligence officer and I have been saying this for the past three months. Courtesy of the BBC

Key quotes from a leaked Ministry of Defence think-tank paper which alleges that Pakistan's intelligence service, the ISI, has indirectly helped the Taleban and al-Qaeda and should be dismantled.

The Army's dual role in combating terrorism and at the same time promoting the MMA and so indirectly supporting the Taliban (through the ISI) is coming under closer and closer international scrutiny.

Indirectly Pakistan (through the ISI) has been supporting terrorism and extremism - whether in London on 7/7 or in Afghanistan or Iraq.

The US/UK cannot begin to turn the tide until they identify the real enemies from attacking ideas tactically - and seek to put in place a more just vision. This will require Pakistan to move away from Army rule and for the ISI to be dismantled and more significantly something to be put in its place.
