Conservative Cherniak
If anyone was in doubt that Jason Cherniak is a conservative, as in a classic parliamentary Tory, this should be the final nail in that coffin.
As if we needed any more evidence.

I"m all for this initiative in Ontario. It will weaken the ability of political parties to run toadies for candidates, and force them to run better candidates. It will also give voters more choice, which is the most important thing of all.
It's a step in the right direction, a little step toward prop rep. And as a Western Canadian I embrace the forward looking call for referendum, prop rep and recall all positions espoused by radical socialists and populists before it was embraced by the right.
Which is why I suspect that Cherniak being the tory he is wants nothing to do with it. It appeals to the right and the left. Keep the status quo he says.
