Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced the creation of an additional 160 undergrad positions and 295 post-grad positions in the medical field during an announcement in Brampton, Ont. on Tuesday. The positions will be added across the province's six medical schools over the next five years. This is said to be the largest expansion of medical education in a decade. Ford made the announcement alongside Deputy Premier Christine Elliott and Minister of Colleges and Universities Jill Dunlop. “We’ve already shored up domestic production of critical supplies like PPE and have added thousands more hospital beds. Now, building on our work to recruit and retain nurses and personal support workers, we’re launching the largest expansion of medical education in ten years,” said Ford.
