As a typical entanglement-based quantum communication protocol, quantum teleportation realizes the transfer of an unknown quantum state between distant users with the assistance of shared entanglement and classical communication. Up to now, most continuous-variable quantum teleportation is limited to teleporting a sideband qumode of the optical field at a time. Toward the application, it is essential to enhance the ability of quantum teleportation by teleporting multiple quantum states simultaneously. However, it remains a challenge for teleporting multiple sideband qumodes simultaneously..
Recently, the group led by Xiaolong Su at Shanxi University in China proposes and successfully demonstrates controllable deterministic continuous-variable quantum teleportation of multiple sideband qumodes simultaneously. By fine-tuning the phases of two classical channels according to different adjustable frequencies, deterministic continuous-variable quantum teleportation up to 5 sideband qumodes simultaneously is successfully realized within the frequency bandwidth of 24 MHz. The number of teleported multiple qumodes can be controlled by changing the phases of two classical channels. The obtained fidelities of output multiple qumodes are around 70%, which are all beyond the non-cloning limit.
The results reveal the phenomenon that multiple sideband quantum states can be teleported simultaneously and the number of teleportable sideband qumodes in continuous-variable quantum teleportation are controllable by tuning the phase of the classical channel. The results provide a new method to teleport multiple sideband qumodes in continuous-variable quantum teleportation, which enhances the teleporting ability of quantum teleportation and takes a crucial step toward efficient continuous-variable entanglement-based quantum communication. These results have been published in Science Bulletin, under the title “Controllable deterministic quantum teleportation of multiple sideband qumodes”, with corresponding authors Prof. Xiaolong Su, and co-first authors PhD student Na Wang and Dr. Meihong Wang.
