(Bloomberg) -- US President Donald Trump's India real estate business is capitalizing on India's wealth boom to expand into the country's south, with its most ambitious project there yet.
A new Trump Tower project in the southern city of Hyderabad, a tech hub, will have 450 luxury units across two towers, potentially generating 35 billion rupees ($367 million) in sales, according to Kalpesh Mehta, founder of Tribeca Developers, the Trump Organization's local licensed partner. Spread across 2.2 million square feet, it is set to be the largest Trump project in the country and will be ready by 2031, said Mehta.
India is the biggest market for Trump's real estate business outside the US, with Trump-branded developments already built in Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Gurugram. Trump Towers expanded in commercial property in India, with plans unveiled last year for an office tower in the western city of Pune.
Luxury apartments in some parts of India have been known to sell out in a matter of hours and prices of premium apartments can match some parts of New York. Oberoi Realty Ltd. sold out its high-end project in Gurugram near New Delhi in "two hours", the firm said in July. Last year, DLF Ltd. said it was able to sell out apartments worth more than $1 million each within a week of initiating bookings.
"These good times have lasted sort of longer than what most of us have expected. And they continue to go on," Mehta said on the resilience of India's luxury housing market. Tribeca Developers is partnering with real estate developer Ira Realty to develop Trump Towers Hyderabad, comprising two 65-storey blocks.
The Trump Organization - run by the US President's sons Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump — earns a license fee for its Trump branded towers in the country.
