Netherlands to boycott Eurovision again over Israel's participation
27.10.2026

The Netherlands plans to boycott the Eurovision Song Contest again next year due to Israel's participation, the public broadcasting association NPO said on Tuesday.
In September, NPO said it would take part in the contest again with a joint entry by the country's public broadcasters. However, in its latest statement, the association said it had found "insufficient support" among broadcasters.
The national news broadcaster NOS will nonetheless broadcast the semi-finals and the final.
Last year, the Netherlands boycotted the international song competition because of Israel's participation, citing the Israeli campaign in the Gaza Strip. In August, the responsible broadcaster Avrotros again decided not to take part in the contest for the same reason.
Ireland is also sticking to its boycott and will not take part in the contest next year in protest against Israel's actions in Gaza.
Ireland and the Netherlands were among five countries that boycotted the previous edition of Eurovision in Vienna.
The next edition of the competition is set to be held in May 2027 in Burgas on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
