Peter Singer talks animal ethics and scientific research

Professor Peter Singer is internationally known for his work on ethics, particularly relating to animals.

Originally Australian and now based at Princeton University in the US, the practical ethicist has recently revisited the issue of animals in scientific research in updating his book Animal Liberation after more than 40 years.

Cosmos has been reporting on the use of animals in science and medical research, including recent moves in Australia to increase transparency and to shift towards non-animal alternatives.

Cosmos science journalist Petra Stock interviews Singer, to ask him about experiments involving animals and how we might think through our conflicting values such as love of animals and respect for science.
