Boffins reckon humans will harness hologram technology so we can share meals with celebrities and even deceased relatives by 2050.
And experts say tech will advance so quickly that robots will do all our grocery shopping for us - and even rustle up all of our meals. AI will also do the weekly grocery shop, with shopping lists compiled by robots which ‘talk’ to our smart fridges and cupboards to check stock levels

Researchers at recipe book firm Hello Fresh said that the ‘weekly grocery’ shop was likely to be consigned to the dustbin of history. They predicted that by 2050, humans will only cook ‘for fun’ and that ‘family recipes’ will be stored digitally, and that we’ll be able to summon up holograms of loved ones - even dead ones - to eat alongside.

“With the use of holograms, people will be able to experience virtual cooking experiences with remote participants, even deceased loved ones.”
It also predicted the end of the weekly grocery shop, adding: “As AI takes over household management, we will be able to delegate tasks such as food shopping, food preparation and even cleaning up.
“Traditional grocery shopping will be replaced by meal delivery kits - with personalised quantities and ingredients to meet individual nutritional needs, making the ‘weekly shop’ a thing of the past.

“In turn, supermarkets will evolve to become hybrid physical-digital experiences, which people will visit for the experience of tasting new foods or to socialise, rather than to buy groceries.”
