Thanks for the link. It sometimes troubles me when the childcare issue is framed as one of childhood development as opposed to needs of working families and/or the need of a society to contribute to its own social reproduction...

But, I guess if the save-the-children rhetoric works, we might as well use it.

They go hand in hand, and often the right wing uses child development or lack thereof, to attack daycares.

Right, a state-run day care can raise my child better than I can. We need to make raising a child affordable. We don't need to make it affordable for the government to raise our children for us.

And a public school system can educate your child better than homeschooling. You don't raise your child, your child learns and develops by socializing. And there is no such thing as a middle class.
