Mike Johnson says he 'intuitively' knows 'illegals' vote — but it's not 'easily provable'

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) railed against alleged voting by undocumented immigrants even though he said it was not "easily provable."
At a press conference on the Capitol steps Wednesday, Johnson pushed GOP legislation that would make voting more difficult by forcing voters to prove citizenship.
"So are you saying that there are currently non-U.S. citizens voting in federal elections?" one reporter asked the speaker. "If that's what you're saying, do you have an estimate of how many?"
The reporter also noted that Johnson had been accused of participating in Donald Trump's "revenge tour."
"I mean, the answer is that it's unanswerable," Johnson said. "States are not allowed right now to prove, if somebody claims on that simple form that they're a citizen, they can vote."
"We all know, intuitively, that a lot of illegals are voting in federal elections, but it's not been something that is easily provable," he continued. "We don't have that number. This legislation will allow us to do exactly that. It will prevent that from happening."
Trump speechwriter Stephen Miller attended the press conference.
Johnson also acknowledged that it is already illegal for non-citizens to vote. There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the U.S.
