Cuban health institutions receive solidarity donation from US.
HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 29 (ACN) The William Soler Pediatric Hospital and the Institute of Gastroenterology received donations this weekend from the U.S. solidarity organizations CodePink and Bridges of Love, the Foreign Ministry said today.
The statement explained that the pediatric institution received 1,000 pounds of powdered milk, while the Institute obtained 71,000 pancreatin tablets for patients suffering from cystic fibrosis.
Carlos Lazo, coordinator of Bridges of Love, indicated on his social networks that the initiative was a tribute to National Hero Jose Marti, on the celebration of the 171st anniversary of his birth on January 28.
He stressed that this was one more sign against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than six decades.
We will continue supporting the Cuban family and the Cuban people, we will continue opening holes to the blockade, said Lazo during the transportation of the donation to Havana.
The activist thanked the contribution of the Cuban patriotic emigration to make this collective effort a reality.
Bridges of Love, along with CodePink and others, are active groups within the United States in the fight against the economic blockade of the island.
