Worst Right Whingnut Blog

It's poll time. Seems that a couple of Progressive Bloggers have decided to run polls on who is whingnuttiest bloggers on the Right.

Buckdog has a poll on his blog. His poll includes Blogging Tories and those not associated with BT.

VOTE HERE FOR THE WORST CANADIAN 'RIGHT WING' BLOG

Red Tory has one too specifically aimed at the BT blogosphere.

“Wingnuttiest Blogging Tory”

Suzanne from Big Blue Wave has been nominated for both but so far she is not garnering many votes. Despite her obnoxious fetus fetish postings she does run the blog aggregator Opinions Canada, which covers both the right and left, so perhaps we give her the benefit of the doubt.

Unfortunately neither poll includes this rightwhingnut who comments here regularly.

BT Breaks Wind

Some Blogging Tories have finally spoken up about the Conservatives switcheroo on Capital Punishment and Clemency. One even made Don Newman's politics show. Gee I don't know how I missed his pithy comment, oh yeah it was in with four other pithy comments.

And Raphael Alexander has finally posted his article after leaving comments over at Scott's blog.

Two count 'em two BT's have finally commented on the 'big story' of the weekend. I guess the other's were too busy watching Fox News.

Still waiting for the Conservative parties official blog voice to speak up on this topic. While the other Steve is wrapped up in the Weblogs Awards.

Death Penalty For Whom

Over at that bastion of Free Speech the Western Slander's Shotgun Blog comes this example of right-whingnut wombat commentary about the death penalty and the Stephen Harper Party reversal of Canada's long standing policy on clemency for Canadians abroad.

The death penalty should be re-instated in Canada - and should include death for murderers, rapists, child molesters, and thieving Liberal Prime Ministers like Jean the Creton.

Posted by: obc | 2-Nov-07 12:50:36 PM

Pretty nasty....but hey that's free speech...you can call for the death of a former PM and know the Stat Polizia won't come knocking at your door.

I know it's an opinion from the far right....except the majority of the Slanders readers and writers happen to be on the far right.

And other than that, and this, not many musings from wombat nation. The Blogging Tories remain absent from the debate. Even Dr. Roy does not address the Harper decision when quoting from an American study on the joys of the death penalty.

Their silence is acquiescence to opinions of the grown ups.

Awfully Quiet Over At BT

The Blogging Tories sure are quiet about the recent Harpocrite announcement on capital punishment and the death penalty. Quiet as the grave. No cheers, no wombat pronouncements, just silence. Not a peep. Well except for Dust My Broom, who without any comment, how unusual, posted the news story on the announcement. Dust my Broom - Harper denies Tories want to bring back death penalty

Check for yourself;

Search BT for death penalty

Search BT for capital punishment

And no comments on the fact that their pals on the right in the media have been denouncing the Harpocrite decision.

Perhaps the echo chamber of rightwhingnuts does not want to expose its deepest hope that with a majority the Harpocrite Law and Order government will return the death penalty for abortion.

Halloween Blog Apples

My own personal carnival of blog posts inspired by Halloween. Here are my selections of Tricks and Treats.

It is clear that Progressive Bloggers have more fun posting on Halloween then their Blogging Tory counterparts.

Progressive Bloggers

This is the gay Christmas boys & girls.Rocky Horror Picture Show: Sweet Transvestite

We're kind of antisocial socialists at the Bunker, and none of us particularly enjoy handing out carbos to kids. So we tend to turn off the lights on Hallowe'e'n, settle down with the mead and popcorn, and enjoy a dusk to dawn session of our favourite scary movies. Here they are.

Like many people the Shag gets tired of hearing about the general state of the world or at least the unpleasant parts that usually arise from some combination of ordinary stupidity and the pathologies of politicians. Since its almost the end of the month let's take a look at a few tidbits related to the celebration of Halloween.Pumpkin carving is a popular part of of the season. Come October, pumpkins can be found everywhere in the country from doorsteps to dinner tables. One of the market gardens located near Lumsden, Saskatchewan always has several hundred on hand at the end of the selling season which I've been told carries on right to the end of this month. The carving of "jack o'lanterns" is supposed to have originated with an Irishman by the name of Stingy Jack.

I have collected some spooky links to post today, to get in the mood for the Holiday. One of my favorites: and one of the most amazing sites i have ever been, is to be found at Devil's Tramping Ground. This flash animation is so beautiful and haunting. The Banshee will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up, while you marvel at this work. Want to see some ghost videos? heh. Ever heard the term, Pepper's ghost? read more...

It seems that Sean over at Mashable has gotten disapointed about how halloween has been celebrated recently and wants to revive the fun in the day. In order to reinvigorate Halloween he’s collected list of more than 20 Halloween websites.

A Very Nunc Scio Halloween

Halloween. The day where we, the living, dress in strange outfits to confuse the spirits who roam among us. Or, conversely, the day where North America’s sugar intake trebles and the good people at Nestle and Hershey do little jigs around their respective offices, commemorating one of…

Happy Halloween everyone. Yesterday I was at the CUPE rally on the UofR campus. There were a lot of reporters there, and I met Patrick Book of CJME.com I’m going to be wearing my chicken costume to the party in the Archer Library, and hoping I won’t have to use it to stay warm outside later in the week. Murray Wood shakes a finger at Hallow’een Grinches. Kids only get to be kids once, and they need supportive adults to hand out sugary snacks.

Remember the fun of Halloween when you were a kid? Dressing up, decorating the house, carving the pumpkin, sorting through the treats after you?ve gone out?only fractions of the easy days of our childhoods?Calgary?s recreation department wants to put the break on Halloween?.They?re encouraging people to give out swim passes instead of the regular chips and/or chocolate combo?swim passes?for Halloween?how anal?Their justification for it is that ?the tradition of dropping candy into kids' bags doesn't make sense anymore amid so much concern over childhood obesity?(CBC News)WTF!?!Personally, I?ve always believed that reason kids are getting heavier is that they?ve become enslaved to the television set; the computers.

Elin and Lukas are going to mock me, but I have miniature chocolate bars to give out to the neighborhood kids tonight. When they were growing up, we gave out small boxes of raisins, and the rule was that the two of them could eat as much as they wanted on Halloween night, but the rest was trashed. My idea was that an occasional splurge doesn?t hurt but that weeks of eating candy was bad for teeth and bad for concentration. But, as Emerson said, consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, and I decided to be inconsistent a couple of years ago. There will be candy for the little ones who come by, although I?ll turn off the front porch light and bring the jack o?lantern in about 7:30 p.m. when the big kids start roaming. Magic is one thing, gluttony is another.Reading that back, I see that Lukas and Ellin will laugh even harder if they read it, since in my indulgent inconsistency I still sound preachy. Fine thing to be on a pagan holiday

I have my costume on.......If I look familiar...well, sorry. That means your OLD. (shhhhhhhhhh......best not to say anything) A couple more Halloween tunes, one from deep in the vault....... And another twisted tune, that cracks me up! (Politically correct critiques not necessary) read more

If your cheap like me than you know that the pressure to spend a fortune on Halloween candy can be a little much. $5.99 for 50 Nestle Favorite mini chocolate bars???

Making Lemonade Aid

It seems that I was correct about Canadian Blue Lemon. Despite comments to the contrary. When you find yourself attacked by your fellow Blogging Tories for making disparaging comments about the Harpocrites and their Calgary School pals you end up self censoring.

Brian Lemon has done just that on his website Canadian Blue Lemon. He has eliminated his 'offending' post criticizing Flanagan and Finley and the old Reform leadership he claimed has taken over the Conservative party. He has reposted this bit of historical revisionism. After the fact and post-dated.

Of course this is natural for conservatives and right wingers they love to revise history to fit their ideology. And when they are caught they whine they were misquoted.

So much for the principles of free speech on the right. The echo chamber that is the Blogging Tories have their own principles of Political Correctness and clearly Lemon violated those and suffered the consequences.

Lemon not only censored himself, shame, shame, but by posting his revised article and eliminating his original post, he has engaged in the old Stalin School of Falsification. Ironic that. Giving into peer pressure from his pals on the right Lemon is not only lacking in principles but gutless as well. No matter how he spins it.

"
And note to all readers and Mssrs Flanagan and Finley who seem to lay claim to Tory Blogs. I am an independent observer of the political scene in Canada that has an allegiance to conservatism in its best form and to the Conservative Party as its manifestation. But I do not receive and would not welcome any direction of my content by any party official. I will criticize our party without losing faith in the importance of our party leading the Canadian political agenda."
Blah, blah, blah. LOL. Stop it you are killing me.

Canadian Blue Lemons Closed To The Public

http://www.nmsl.chem.ccu.edu.tw/tea/images/lemon.bmpBrian Lemon of Canadian Blue Lemon spends his time attacking the Liberals and liberal bias in the media.

Canadian Blue Lemons Brian Lemon Liberal Party::Criticism [27%]

But last weekend he changed his tune and attacked the Harpocrites in Ottawa and their Blogging Tory sycophants.

Now it seems Blogging Tory Canadian Blue Lemons seems to have closed his blog in response to the popularity his comments have garnered from fans amongst Progressive and conservative non-BT Bloggers. Too bad.

This blog is open to invited readers only

Canadian Blue Lemons
http://canadianbluelemons.blogspot.com/

It doesn't look like you have been invited to read this blog. If you think this is a mistake, you might want to contact the blog author and request an invitation.

Probably because he said this;

"The problem is that the Conservative Party of Canada as it is, is pretty much run by rural, white men as the Reform Party was. Old Reformers that we thought had retired to mansions in Beverly Hills or Phoenix. Men who only ever visit a big city to raise money. I was bothered by claims by two old white farts - Tom Flanagan and Doug Finley - seeming to take credit for Blogging Tories."

Censorship is a terrible thing.

Could the powers that be have sent him a note from the PMO? Or Mr. Flanagan's lawyers? Could the echo chamber on the right have so over reacted that he felt the need to shut down? Inquiring minds want to know.

Lemon of Canadian Blue Lemons has posted some really, really good critiques of the Conservative Party of Canada over the past week or so and judging by the comments he’s getting it’s come as a slap in the face for a few of his loyal readers.

Self censorship is worse, because we will never know why he closed his blog to the public and his new adoring fans. And it's even more ironic when you consider he posted this today.

Lemon: Old Reformers Run Conservative Party

Before I go any further with this, I wish to declare that I am a Conservative and that I am a strong supporter of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

I once was a Liberal and when I left the party in 1996 (for what were good reasons), like an ex-smoker, I became a fanatical opponent. In Canada this means I became a Reformer (being a Tory wasn't within the definition of reason at the time). The union of the post-Reform Alliance with the Progressive Conservative Party to create the CPC offered great promise; I could be for responsible, fiscally efficient government but also allow for my belief in living and letting live.

I was okay with this and have been a partisan Tory ever since. Until I opened the book and looked beyond it's cover.

This didn't happen until an election was won, barely, a new campaign was underway and I started looking at the real politics behind the noise. I wondered why the Conservative Party has not gained a national consensus to rule the country in perpetuity. With an incompetent Liberal Party following a corrupt Liberal ruling party, what stopped Canadians from electing 200 or more CPC MPs?

With an outstanding Prime Minister and a spectacular Speech from the Throne I wondered why the public were still reticent to plunk blue signs all over their lawns. Why didn't Canadians embrace the CPC the way I did?

The problem is that the Conservative Party of Canada as it is, is pretty much run by rural, white men as the Reform Party was. Old Reformers that we thought had retired to mansions in Beverly Hills or Phoenix. Men who only ever visit a big city to raise money. I was bothered by claims by two old white farts - Tom Flanagan and Doug Finley - seeming to take credit for Blogging Tories.

I remembered the "Wisdom of the Masses". People can sense a problem without knowing the details.

I checked out the website. There are 18 members of the CPC Council. 18 are white. 3 are women. 3 have French names.

This is the organization that runs the Conservative Party. So much for inclusion.
The President is a plumber from a Manitoba town of 1500 surely honest souls. Another member is a fish monger from BC. Another, seemingly, an eternal Conservative volunteer from Edmonton. A fourth a farmer for 35 years in Saskatchewan. You can check out the rest on your own - many don't have a search result on Google which speaks volumes on its own. There are a handful of people who are big city urban. Providing you only have three fingers on your hand.

Want Proof? Click here. In the CPC Council you are not allowed to not toe the line. Small town Manitoba trumps big city Montreal.

The Campaign Director, Doug Finley, was a former Reformer who is the husband of the MP from Haldimand Norfolk (wherever that is). He was behind the minority that turned into a defeat in 2004 and the majority that turned into a minority in 2006. Reports are out there that reports on Mr. Finley's background in Scotland as a Marxist and a Separatist, and as the searcher for desperate political campaigns in need. He scored big with the new Tories. He was the force behind Garth Turner's expulsion from caucus (which I supported). He was also mentioned in this article in The Post that dealt with bribery allegations in Ottawa. Stories I read lead me to believe that Finley thinks that this is his party and that Stephen Harper is just a tenant.

These are the people behind the crown. Those who decide what policies that the Party should run with and who should be the party's candidates.

And, frankly, this is not a governing Council that I can support.

As a Conservative I expect a party with no hint of behind the scene deals conducted by staff. I expect absolute egalitarianism - acceptance of any member of the Party as an equal. I expect the composition of the Council to fairly represent needs and preferences of all Canadians. I expect inclusion. And this gang ain't it.
It's the same group that was rejected by Canada a few years ago.
Allegations of "Hidden Agendas?" Small wonder with Finley et al in control.

Blogging Tories Payola

I once defended the Blogging Tories from charges that they were in the pay of the Conservative Party. Now I find my faith misplaced. After the Harprocrites were elected Blogging Tory founder Stephen Taylor was proudly 'leaking' Conservative memo's.

And it's spelled Janke not Jank. And he too has been a pit bull for the Conservatives in Ottawa.

And last week they were outed as being in Harpers back pocket during the election.

In his new book, Harper's Team: Behind the Scenes in the Conservative Rise to Power, party strategist Tom Flanagan notes the Tories' innovative use of blogs in the 2006 election campaign.

He cites in particular two members of the Blogging Tories, Steve Jank and Stephen Taylor, who write highly partisan blogs on federal politics.

Mr. Flanagan writes that campaign manager Doug Finley "appointed people to monitor the blogosphere and to get out stories that were not quite ready for the mainstream media."

These bloggers "amplify and diversify our message," he wrote.

Except the payola to Blogging Tories did not after the election was over, it continued this year.

The Harper government gave a contract for communications consulting on Parliament Hill, worth up to $20,000, to an outspoken Conservative Internet blogger.

Privy Council Office records show Joan Tintor, author of a popular weblog or "blog," in June received the one-year contract for "communications professional services not elsewhere specified."

The government says Ms. Tintor was not paid to write a blog and has so far received only $350 for work performed under the contract.

She was contracted to provide writing and other communications work on an as-needed basis to the office of government House leader Peter Van Loan.

Ms. Tintor did not return an e-mail requesting comment and, when reached by telephone, she said she would have to call back. She did not.

Her strongly opinionated blog focuses on provincial and federal politics and is listed on the web page of the "Blogging Tories," a collection of conservative Internet commentators. Her blog, joantintor.blogspot.com

Joan has been silent on this particular matter. In fact she has not blogged since Saturday.

So add Joan to the list of Blogging Tories accepting payola from the Conservatives.

And like Tory race car driver and news aggregator
Pierre Bourque these Tory Bloggers relish the idea of being close to power.

A Kat Blog

Those cheeky Conservatives have launched an attack blog against Stephane Dion apparently written by his dog Kyoto.

The polite thing to do would be to respond in kind with a Kat blog about Stephen Harper.

His cat's name is Cheddar, the blog could be called Whine and Cheese.

And since Steve is a Star Trek fan maybe the blog could feature him as a Klingon.

The country's most powerful cat lover, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, is using his official website to urge Canadians to foster pets that have been abandoned or rescued.

The web page — which is up during the Humane Society's Adopt-A-Cat month — shows a photo of a smiling Harper in a wood-panelled room at 24 Sussex Drive with two tiny kittens perched by his side.

Not shy about revealing his soft spot towards cats, Harper said he recently adopted a kitten -- an orange tabby named "Cheddar."

Since moving into 24 Sussex, Laureen Harper has been fostering stray cats through the SPCA.

"I lost my favourite cat Cabot about three years ago, who passed away in an unfortunate accident just outside of Stornaway. So I finally got over that and adopted a young kitten," said the prime minister.

"I'm not sure he knows his name yet but he seems to like everyone. He's the happiest cat I've ever seen, he likes everything and everybody."

In December, the Liberal Party elected a new leader, Stéphane Dion of Quebec. He trails Harper in polls, but not by much. Dion is a supporter of the Kyoto Protocol (which Canada has ratified) and seems to mention global warming with each breath. He even has a dog named Kyoto. This puts Harper, a cat lover and not a Kyoto supporter, in a bind.

Baby Fat

Talk about thin skined. The Tories are all in a huff over Liberal Leader Stephane Dions references to their Glorious Leader being called Fat.

And interestingly the sturm and drang over this began with the Blogging Tories , you know those senstive types who refer to their opponents as moonbats, and then the whole gang at the PMO got involved.

Being an average Alberta male The Glorious Leader's paunch could be dismissed as a traditional Molson Six Pack.

I think what the Conservatives are upset about is that their Glorious Leader looks like he still has baby fat.

Well at least he doesn't suck his thumb.

And even with the baby fat he is still not as cuddly as Mike Duffy.

But just in case the PMO is worried about the Glorious Leaders paunch here is a solution.

Compare and Contrast

Sometimes it's just impossible to seperate the right wing from the right wing, in this case, as with the recent debate in the blogosphere over minimum wages, some Liberal blogs at Progressive Bloggers sound just like Blogging Tories on the issue of the NDP calling for an end to bank service charges and ATM's.

Which shows, once again, that despite the catcalls from the right the Liberals are no more progressive or left wing than the Conservatives.
